A scientist named Harvey Johnson has been given command of the most powerful fleet in existence. With him he has a small group of research scientists which includes Linda, the love of his life, a crack platoon of special troops and three aliens they picked up on the way. Given the tools but no guidebook, they receive assignments from Joth, an energy being that claims to be the creator, they find themselves facing space fleets and beings they thought only existed in mythology, including a mysterious 'adversary' that calls all the shots from the other side. The Empire of Barbiel likes to divert large asteroids toward populated worlds to see if they are worth dominating. If they manage to save themselves, then they are invaded. If not, they 'were of no consequence'. Harvey, following the directive from Joth, heeds his instincts and investigates the doomed world to see if it is worth saving. He sends the asteroid to the home world of the empire to teach them a lesson. With this act of defiance, the battle is joined. The forces of freedom and oppression fighting head to head in space. The war in the heavens has heated up again. An enraged and previously unchallenged empire sends everything it has: a quarter million heavy attack vessels after Harvey's flagship. Surrounded and almost out of power, the human takes a defiant stance. Is this his last stand or does he have a proverbial ace up his sleeve...
