In Plastic Figures, Ranjan Ghosh brings together an understanding of both the plasticity of plastic and nonmaterial plasticity into a dynamic called plastic figurality. Rather than addressing the materiality of plastic, Ghosh makes a critical investment in the intricate negotiations between figurality and plasticity in order to explore how the plasticity of the figures we live in and live by (history, politics, religion and secularism, literary and philosophical ideas, nature) are underwritten by plasticity.

Ghosh changes the understanding of plasticity by creating a variety of figures, rather, introduces refigurative readings, in the fields of neuro-literary, plasticity of emotion and literature, religio-political situatedness, conceptualization of history, the plastic effect and its meditative ruminations, secular-religion, and other related issues.
