Poems for black boys is a creation of poems designed to uplift, educate, teach and bring truth. Each poem was written based on things that I have seen, complaints that I have received from young black men that I have come in contact with; as well as their hopes, dreams and wishes for life. Each detail of this book was created with purpose. The prison attire represents the imprisonment of a black man's mind, once they are taught how to break this mindset then change can begin for the better. The plantation house represents where we came from but it does not define where they are headed. The inmate tags on the back of the uniforms are the visions that God has set forth over their lives. Each African American male, young or old was born with a VISION, they were created with a PURPOSE over their lives, Then God set up a remarkable PLAN for them to move forward, and if ever any doubt may come to them about who they were designed to be, this is where FAITH steps in, trusting God on this journey of life will help them to succeed. If we teach our boys and men who they truly are just as the banner reads, THEY CAN BE & THEY WILL BE whatever they put their minds to. It is time to break the generational curses, it is time to break free from it all and teach our Kings who God created them to be! Blessings to all and I hope you all enjoy!
