The book considers one of the ways to optimize the process of foreign language training in the system of science education through the implementation of competence, modular and personality-oriented approaches. The analysis of international linguistic and professional standards in Bologna context, GOS VPO 2ndand 3rd generation requirements, and international quality management ISO 2000 principles has resulted in the formulation of the competence-oriented teaching of foreign language at a higher educational institution. The article describes the author's educational technology of forming professional language competences of university students in natural sciences ("technology of professional and language portfolio"), which has been tested and proved to really improve the quality of language training. The monograph is addressed to researchers, graduate students, university professors and students of professional development courses.
