Soon all the children work together to solve problems both big and small, from finding a home for a starving orphan, helping John find love again, to saving a favored rooster from death. (1874-1942) Escritora de origen canadiense. Trabajó como maestra en varias escuelas isleñas y como periodista en diarios regionales. Estudió literatura en la Universidad de Dalhousie durante dos años. En 1908 publica su primera novela protagonizada por Anne. A esta le seguirían varios títulos, que abarcan la adolescencia, juventud y madurez de la protagonista y la serie de Emily Starr. También publicó colecciones de cuentos, poesías y una autobiografía en la que se advierten semejanzas y diferencias entre la vida de la escritora y las de sus heroínas. Hoy su obra es objeto de investigaciones, conferencias y homenajes en todo el mundo.
