Reseña del libro "Raising Good Man (en Inglés)"

Boys are not failing because they are broken. They are struggling because the world we've built around them hasn't caught up with how they grow. More boys repeat grades, get suspended, drop out of school and never enrol in higher education. More young men are unemployed, isolated and lost to suicide. In South Africa and around the world, a quiet emergency is unfolding in classrooms and homes. It grows in the tears boys are told to hold back and in the disengagement we excuse as "just being a boy." In Raising Good Men, educator Tshepo Oliphant draws on years of teaching at a boys-only secondary school in South Africa, along with global research, to name this crisis, trace where it comes from and offer practical, humane answers. The book is in four parts: The crisis: the hard numbers on boys' education and mental health, how boys' brains and bodies develop, and the "emotional lockdown" that teaches them to hide what they feel. Masculinity: going beyond toughness, the anger, anxiety and silence boys carry, the friendship gap, and making room for every kind of boy, including LGBTQ+ youth. School: how boys learn best, the value of sport, arts and creative spaces, discipline and restorative justice, the single-sex schooling debate, and how to guide boys through online radicalisation and pornography. Society: gender-based violence, the role of fathers, mentors and male role models, building emotionally intelligent schools, and a new social contract for raising good men. This is not a backlash against feminism. It argues that taking boys' struggles seriously is part of gender equality, not a distraction from it. Boys who learn to feel, connect and take responsibility grow into men who have healthier relationships, parent with empathy and respect the women and girls around them. Written for teachers, parents, school leaders, policymakers and anyone who cares about the next generation, Raising Good Men is well researched, readable and urgent. This is not a book about what is wrong with boys. It is about what is wrong with the world we have built around them, and what we can do to make it better.
