The battle for survival continues as Jim and his group settle into the fort, trying to carve out a semblance of normalcy amidst the chaos. When supply runs take them back to Plattsburgh, they're forced to confront new dangers, both living and undead that threaten their fragile hold on life.

A mysterious message on the walkie-talkie sends Jim and Beth on a desperate mission to Albany, where three CDC doctors are stranded. But the journey isn't as simple as it seems. As they fight their way through the horde of reanimates, they stumble upon Tyler, unconscious and riddled with bullets, his past catching up with him in the worst way possible.

When they return to the fort, the group faces their deadliest threat yet: a massive wave of reanimates that leads to an unforgivable loss. With several people kidnapped by John and his deadly crew, Jim must confront the truth of his leadership, facing enemies both human and monstrous, with only one goal in mind: survival.
