At the beginning of the year, Ffraid watches another funeral from an upstairs window that brings the dark omens in the form of a corpse candle.When Ffraid's best friend dies, the loss tosses her adrift like the nets her father throws to the sea to gain their coin. Yet she must carry on with daily rural life. When an acquaintance swoops in, giving her a shoulder to cry on, so blooms their blossoming friendship blooms and brings with it something more.
