The doctor s office suggests she watch a video that explains what a CBC is to eliminate her fears. The items measured in the CBC: Charlie Circulatory System, Rudi Red Cell, Herman Hemoglobin, Lulu Leukocyte and Patti Platelet come alive in the video and explain what they do in blood. Ned Needle and Betsy Butterfly relate how easy it is to take blood from people s veins. After seeing the video, Sara Ann has blood taken from her arm. She bravely wears a big band-aid on her arm and feels taller than her mother. The band-aid is her Badge of Courage as she walks out of the doctor s office with her mother.
