Sea Shells is a novel about self; an introspective insight into the mind of the protagonist, Vangeline - who doubles as her own antagonist. She can easily be identified as the everyday woman - a "real" woman whose adventures over the course of the holidays is a journey worth experiencing. In the course of the novel, Vangeline is trying to make sense of her life, not that her life is entirely bad, but it's just not prioritized the way she wants. Vangeline is scatter-brained and she self induces unnecessary drama on herself despite that she has to deal with her parent's separation, fornicating with an adulterous lover, likewise dealing with her own self. The plot folds into different twists and turns and follows through with an internal monologue that everyone can easily relate with.
