Lisa See (París, 1955) es una reconocida novelista estadounidense de ascendencia china, criada en Los Ángeles en el seno de una familia con profundas raíces en el Chinatown local. Su obra se centra en la exploración de la historia y cultura asiáticas, especialmente la china, a través de una perspectiva femenina. Entre sus novelas más destacadas se encuentran El abanico de seda (2005), El pabellón de las peonías (2008), Dos chicas de Shanghai (2010), Muñecas chinas (2015) y La isla de las mujeres del mar (2020). Además, es autora de la obra de no ficción On Gold Mountain (1995), donde narra la historia de su familia.

Su género literario principal es la ficción histórica, destacándose por su meticulosa investigación y la representación de culturas asiáticas, particularmente la china y coreana.
