Feet firmly planted on the ground, Simon Sevier never believed in magic or Voodoo. Joined the Army and Delta Force to escape the kooky people in the bayou and forge a new path free of superstition. Now out of the Army and working for Brotherhood Protectors, he finds himself back in the bayou, attracted to the pretty new waitress at the local bar. 

Holly Gautier left Bayou Mambaloa with her brother and changed her name from Gautier to Hazard, after a string of curses, claimed the lives of her parents and her boyfriend. She's back in town to face her demons and seek help from her grandmother, the Voodoo Queen, after a new curse appears written in the fog on her mirror in Atlanta. 

Simon is determined to prove there's no such thing as magic and to reveal the truth about the so-called curses and the people behind them. Working with Holly, he comes to realize truth can be hidden behind a smoke-screen of magic and magic is real when it comes to matters of the heart.
