Lauren, is a bouncy, spunky college girl who dearly loves jeans, tank tops, bikinis and dancing. Following her mother's untimely death she moves to the farm where her mom grew up. According to a will she must become accepted by her deceased grandfather's religious community (not quite Amish) by the end of a year. She has never heard of these people who refuse to use electricity, cars or accept modern conveniences. Battles are plenty as she adjusts to her new lifestyle, the man (Matthew) who holds title to half of "her" farm and his people. Matthew is an incredibly pious man striving to live honestly, without giving into sinful thoughts and desires. He finds himself with the seemingly impossible task of making a "proper God-fearing lady" out of Lauren.
