Patric Gagne es escritora, ex terapeuta y defensora de las personas que padecen trastornos de personalidad sociópatas, psicopáticos y antisociales. Obtuvo un doctorado en psicología clínica con una tesis que examinó la relación entre la sociopatía y la ansiedad. Esta investigación se convirtió en la base para sus continuos estudios sobre el trastorno sociopático, así como en la base de sus memorias. Hizo sus estudios universitarios en UCLA y obtuvo su maestría y doctorado en el Instituto de Graduados de California de la Escuela de Chicago.
