With this Book One, the great heroes of hypnosis research are vindicated. Those forgotten ones, who laid the foundations of deep hypnosis. A historical tour is given, contemplating how the roots of mesmerism were interwoven in time since Paracelsus and gave rise to animal magnetism, as well as how it evolved towards a more rational magnetism. Emphasis is placed on the extraordinary phenomena obtained with the states of lucid somnambulism. In parallel with the observations of the magnetizers, on mental suggestion, splitting, bilocation and the double or ghost of the living, it "splices" with a very primitive tradition, the vision of the Toltecs and their techniques of autosuggestive learning. Book One concludes with a model, to which the observations of the magnetizers lead, and heralds the development of the quantum approach to hypnosis in Book Two.
