The book describes the daily life of a secondary school through its main actors, caught in the trap of an educational system in crisis. The former secondary school in the village is transformed overnight by ministerial order into a high school. A real epic begins for these actors, many of whom are generated by the chaotic mutations of the new school: their gestures and words show that they are both victims and guilty of everything that happens to them. The book presents a series of tables on the challenges facing the school in Africa: its social environment, its mode of administration and personnel management, its financing, the evaluation system, etc. Each time, the actor and the school's staff are presented in a different light. Each time, the actor and the situation are privileged at the expense of theoretical development. At first glance, the description of the flaws and shortcomings (such as this extraordinary assembly which begins with the "miscellaneous") may make one smile: so much the better if the reader can laugh by taking the trouble to read a few pages!
