They hide the globe on their property and the book is passed down through many generations of family and subsequent owners, none of whom are able determine the truth behind the story of the strange, indestructible sphere - until WWII veteran and fighter pilot, Walter "Bucky" Stratton, purchases the multi-generational property, and the family plot that goes along with it, in 1951.But Bucky's road to discovery is fraught with obstacles and pitfalls. Even his job in aeronautical design and eventual job as a NASA systems engineer, can't foresee and avoid basic human ineptitude, bureaucratic inefficiency and greed. When the truth about the globe's origin and purpose is finally known, it is the Stratton family who becomes forever haunted by its ultimate fate - one they brought to the world - and a story 400 years in the making.
