The Art of War written by Sun Tzu is an ancient military classic outlining essentials for warfare like strategy and tactics. Throughout the years is has withstood the test of time and is still sought out because of the wisdom it contains. Although the text deals with military strategy, the wisdom contained in the text does not limit itself to this application. This is a curious aspect of the ancient Chinese sages, in that their writings usually cover a specific topic, but the wisdom contained in the words can be used to enrich many different aspect of one's life. This truly shows their attainment of Tao. Any relationship engenders the chance for conflict and the knowledge contained in this text can help in these situations. It doesn't matter if the field of action is business, the battlefield, the sports arena, or a sparring match, if the scale is global or interpersonal, this text can offer understanding of the situation and sound advice. The original Chinese and the English translation (done by Lionel Giles in 1910) are offered in this book without any commentary so that over time, as you come back to the text, you can continue to use your understanding and personal growth to find new depth in this ancient council.

Sun Tzu (en chino simplificado: 孙子, en chino tradicional: 孫子, en pinyin: Sūnzǐ) fue un general, estratega militar y filósofo de la antigua China. El nombre por el que lo conocemos es en realidad un título honorífico que significa «Maestro Sun». Su nombre de nacimiento era Sun Wu y fuera de su familia era conocido por su nombre de cortesía Changqing.

Tradicionalmente se le considera como el autor de El arte de la guerra, un influyente tratado sobre estrategia militar. Sun Tzu ha tenido un impacto significativo en la historia y culturas china y asiática, tanto por escribir El arte de la guerra como por ser una figura histórica legendaria.
