Jonathan's family and friends are shocked by his transformation. Rumors of his mental instability start to circulate, threatening to ruin his reputation. Jonathan and Joe must protect not only the Drake family from the baron's evil plans, but also a young Winston Churchill-whom the baron regards as a mortal enemy. Ultimately, Jonathan and his allies must foil the baron's prophecy that a dark fire will engulf Europe, and eventually, the world. Inspired by Bram Stoker's Dracula, and drawing upon legends of the golem from Jewish lore, The Dark Fire weaves gothic suspense, supernatural horror, and historical fiction into a haunting tale.
