Biochemistry is a relatively new science in Canada. E. Gordon Young, an early specialist in the field who knew personally many of the prominent biochemists in this country, is a particularly appropriate writer for this first history of the development of the science in Canada. He deals with the origins and development of biochemistry, first at fourteen universities, then at agricultural colleges, and subsequently in industry, government laboratories, and special institutions, and also with the biochemists involved throughout.
