Robert Ervin Howard (Peaster, Texas, 1906 – Cross Plains, Texas, 1936) fue un escritor estadounidense cuya influencia en la literatura fantástica es profunda y duradera. Desde joven, mostró una gran pasión por la historia y la lectura, lo que lo llevó a comenzar a escribir relatos a los quince años y a vender su primer texto a los dieciocho. Es ampliamente reconocido como uno de los creadores del subgénero de espada y brujería, especialmente por su icónico personaje Conan el Bárbaro, que debutó en 1932 y se convirtió en un símbolo cultural. Además, creó otros personajes memorables como Kull de Atlantis y Solomon Kane, que también trascendieron la literatura para llegar al cine y el cómic.
