Reseña del libro "The Devil's Honor: A World War II Novel (en Inglés)"

World War II is in its final days. A desperate Germany fights a losing battle against the thousands upon thousands of American bombers seeking to destroy its population, industry, and infrastructure. The Luftwaffe is powerless to stop them with conventional fighter-interceptors like the Bf-109 and Fw-190, and when the P-51 Mustang begins escorting the hordes of B-17 and B-24 bombers to and from the target, they are positively unable to stem the tide. But all is not lost. Germany still has a trump card to play, in the form of a high-speed, turbojet-driven fighter plane known as the Messerschmitt Me-262, a jet plane a hundred miles an hour faster than any Allied fighter plane in service. American pilots are stunned to helplessness and unable to stop the jets from shooting the bombers down.Colonel David M. McKavitt, a leading American fighter ace and a Medal of Honor winner, returns to flight duty after a long hiatus. McKavitt is a married man these days and has a lot to life for: a beautiful wife, a successful military career, and the admiration of his men. He leads his fighter group over Germany day after day, week after week, hoping to add to his score of 28 enemy planes, which were all achieved in the Pacific Theater against the Japanese. But he is unable to do so for reasons beyond his control. When the German jets begin to appear on the scene, and the 8th Air Force General Staff changes tactics in order to deal with them, he becomes desperate and unnecessarily reckless trying to shoot one down and add it to his list of victories. And from the far-flung reaches of the Japanese home islands, a long-forgotten hero emerges from a hellish P.O.W. camp and escapes, desperate to redeem himself and regain his honor, as well as the woman he once loved. The eponymous Jack Knight returns to the army and a world at war hoping to make an impact and do something worthwhile, but not in ways he had ever thought of doing before. Jack joins the O.S.S. and becomes a special agent, and is eventually given a special mission, one that will put him back on the path to greatness, and into the path of the German SS, a secret Luftwaffe factory, and the fastest and most heavily gunned jet fighter ever developed, one faster and more dangerous than the Me-262. Give the devil his due, and he'll stop at nothing to regain his lost honor!
