In our knowledge-expanding internet world, people are enlightened by divergent thinking on any subject that man can think of. But many current Church doctrines were already in place at a time when the Church insisted that the earth, not the sun, was the centre of our planetary system and persecuted and killed those who begged to differ on that and any other subject. Teachings based on dubious interpretations of Scripture were forcibly wrought and opposing literature burned along with its authors. Christendom has lost its political clout, and has been forced to move on in some spheres, but where Biblical doctrine is concerned, it has largely remained frozen in institutional concrete. I urge readers to revisit topics like Eden, think about and rediscover the original meaning of the text. Humanity may find the Bible more believable, turn to God - and live in the eternity her Creator has planned for her.
