He started out as a normal child in a typical urban household in Durham, North Carolina, who later transitioned into an adolescent that would become engulfed by the street life. Wandering down the path of death and destruction, smoke and mirrors had led him through experiences that a man twice his age would not believe. At the prime age of 39, Marquis recognizes the casualties of his spiritual warfare, including a battle that cost him the last 19 years of his freedom. During this time, he has suffered from the mental and physical withdrawal of being abruptly separated from all that he knew and loved, only then to be placed in the midst of the strife and struggles that come with a sentence of life as State property. God's grace has granted Marquis wisdom and understanding to know that it takes patience while waiting for his sentence to be overturned.
