I first read one of the stories in this book in 1964. It left a lasting positive impression on me. I purchased one of these volumes about five years ago and again found it hard to put down. It's an exciting read, giving an insight into conditions and privations in colonial India a century ago. A must read. I purchased this copy in 2024 for my son.
