Greg has been sent on a working holiday to compose 'in-house' music for his company's clientele. In attempting to find accommodation he meets a con-man, a daunting nurse, and is befriended by the jolly wife and stoical mother-in-law of an apologetic security officer seeking the key for his first symphony. The family runs a small campsite, occupied by three retired men seeking their 'inner wolf' by chanting and avoiding rain. They also wish to compose, as does the impatient cousin of the frustrated symphonist. But their quest has somehow alerted the esoteric controllers of the ultimate Key, and so with the aid of a specially adapted manuscript book they visit Mablethorpe, Hungary, and The Great Pyramid. After their initiations and medicals, they have a dramatic encounter with a birthday cake, before meeting various dead composers - now happily living beyond the stave - who lead the group to an unusual tree....
