The Princess, The Messenger and the Witch is the first book in a series of stories bringing to life the ancient "patakis" or sacred stories of the Yoruba tribes of Africa as fairy tales. This story begins in the Kingdom of Oyo where King Obata, the wisest man in Africa, rules with his lovely Queen. They have a baby they name Oshun. The King loves his Queen, but he loves his precious little girl even more. Spurred by jealousy and envy, the Queen refuses to reveal Oshun's true name to the world insisting they call her "The Princess". Her obsession leads her to devise a gruesome plot to kidnap Oshun who is left in the woods to fend for herself. Through her experiences Oshun learns the true meaning of love, sacrifice and forgiveness. The tale blends African folk lore and adventure with family values, hope and redemption. A captivating bedtime story.
