The Reckoning (en Inglés) - Kofi A Oliver

They came from the darkest edge of the solar system looking for a debt four centuries overdue.

When Dr. Kwesi Browning, a Black astrophysicist at Georgia Tech, detects a massive object moving toward Earth on an impossibly deliberate path, he expects first contact to change the world. He does not expect it to begin killing. The visitor deploys no conventional weapon. Instead, a silent contagion spreads across the globe with surgical, unthinkable precision. It ignores wealth, geography, and rank. It strikes wherever the machinery of white supremacy runs, and it reaches everywhere. Supreme Court justices collapse in their chambers and billionaires fall in locked boardrooms, but so do the enforcers and the beneficiaries at every level: the precinct, the pulpit, the quiet bigotry of an ordinary street. No one is too powerful to fall, and no one is too small to be called to account.

As a panicked government answers with experimental serums, digital warfare, and coordinated cover-ups, the country splinters toward open conflict. Militant factions arm in the interior. Institutions that stood untouchable for centuries come apart in weeks. Kwesi is the one man the visitors will speak to, because the intelligence behind the reckoning is not alien at all. It is ancestral. It has followed the trail of blood back to the shore, and it has chosen him to carry its message to a nation that has never once been made to listen.

Caught between a dying regime that wants to weaponize him and a cosmic force that wants to remake the world through him, Kwesi must protect his pregnant wife, his aging grandfather, and a future he can barely imagine, while deciding what he actually believes justice requires.

The Reckoning is a searing, propulsive debut that fuses the velocity of a Crichton thriller with the moral force of Octavia Butler and Colson Whitehead. It asks the question a nation has spent four hundred years refusing to answer: What happens when the bill finally comes due, and there is no one left to negotiate with?
