After a thunderstorm causes her to crash her car on a remote country road, Kate finds refuge with Sam. Quickly falling into a close relationship, the couple move into Sam’s home on Exmoor and start to build a life together. With some of their close friends they begin to experience a variety of unusual encounters until a strange little man, Amyus Conybeare, arrives at their door. Amyus seems to know a lot more than he initially tells them and when a group of archaeologists disturb something ancient and dangerous near Dunkery Beacon, the highest point of the moor, the whole group become embroiled in a supernatural war that has been waged for millenia. Now, the usually shy Beasts of Exmoor are also causing disturbances around the area and creatures from lore and legend walk the moor. Can Amyus and his daughter, Mollie help in any way? The friends must fight for all they hold dear before the coming night plunges them all into despair and chaos. Who will survive the climactic battle.
