At low tide, the world begins to remember something it was never meant to know.

Across distant coasts, strangers collapse into identical visions-black towers rising from drowned cities, coral-armored figures waiting beneath a swallowed moon. Children carve impossible glyphs into wood, stone, and their own skin, guided by a voice that does not speak but teaches.

When survivors from the lost vessel Ardent Gale are recovered, they return altered-salt growing within their bodies, their blood changing, their minds no longer entirely their own. They speak of structures beneath the ocean floor, of signals that reshape thought, and of something vast that is learning how to reach the surface.

Daya Sen follows the pattern to a hidden shoreline exposed only under rare tides. There, she discovers the truth: the ritual is not symbolic.

It is functional.

As the sea prepares to rise and complete what has already begun, Daya must decide whether humanity is witnessing an invasion-or a return.
