Tim Birkhead. Ornitólogo británico, es profesor en la Universidad de Sheffield desde 1976. Su investigación sobre la promiscuidad y la competencia de espermatozoides en aves ayudó a cambiar la comprensión actual de sus sistemas de apareamiento.

Ha impartido todo tipo de cursos sobre aves, ecología, evolución, comportamiento animal y sobre la historia y la filosofía de la ciencia. Ha sido presidente de la Sociedad Internacional para la Ecología del Comportamiento y actualmente es miembro del comité de administración del Proyecto de Correspondencia de Darwin.
