Tommy has her life settled. She's a widow but her sons are grown with families of their own and she is enjoying life as a nurse. That all changes when Pepsi begs her to take the baby she has born that is drug exposed so the child doesn't have to be placed in a stranger foster home. Tommy takes the child, but Pepsi gets angry when she can't come and go as she pleases to see Neveah. Tommy's world is ripped when Pepsi attacks her and she has to go to the hospital. The only positive is the ambulance attendant is a guy she has a crush on. The budding romance is threatened when Pepsi burglarizes the home and destroys many of Tommy's treasures. Tommy considers if she should give Neveah back to the state when the worker doesn't listen and she is hurt by Pepsi dropping her in a visit. Pepsi gets angry at Tommy and burns down the home while Tommy and Jaxson are there with Neveah inside.
