Grandad never seems to correctly hear what Myer has to say. These miscommunications lead to some humorous confusion. Myer usually laughs at the mix-ups, but eventually worries that Grandad might not really comprehend how deeply Myer treasures his Grandad's place in his life. Nani helps Myer understand that being hearing impaired does not mean Grandad has lost any of his other valuable senses. The story illustrates that the love between a grandchild and their grandparents is a special bond that transcends any physical handicap.
