The workbook progresses through simple activities (life roles, likes and dislikes, personality, memories, goals, etc.) applied to developing skills in sound basic writing practices, interspersed with free journaling. Self-Evaluation and Reader's Evaluation Checklists provide feedback for the more structured writing activities. Use of pen and paper rather than keyboard is based on research indicating that writing by hand engages more areas of the brain and increases learning.
