English summary: This anthology offers the proceedings of a conference held in February 2014 at the Philipps-University in Marburg. The goal of this meeting was to examine the connection between economy and culture in antiquity in the period between 2000 BCE and 500 CE, which focused on culturally specific valuation and control systems that were related to economic activity of the ancient world as they appear in ancient sources. A second central issue discussed in these articles is the way in which cultural factors influence economic acts and how these, in turn, return to influence culture. The articles come from a variety of fields of economic study and integrate new theories and models for ancient societies, especially the "New Institutional Economics" which seeks to integrate cultural and economic acts to understand changes in society and culture. German description: Der vorliegende Band ist das Ergebnis einer internationalen Tagung, die im Februar 2014 an der Philipps-Universitat Marburg stattfand. Er hat sich zum Ziel gesetzt, den Zusammenhang von Wirtschaft und Kultur in der Antike zwischen 2000 v.Chr. und 500 n.Chr. zu untersuchen. Dabei wird vor allem auf die kulturspezifischen Werte- und Regelsysteme fokussiert, die in den antiken Quellen im Kontext okonomischer Aktivitaten fassbar werden. Im Mittelpunkt steht also die Frage, auf welche Weise kulturelle Faktoren das wirtschaftliche Agieren beeinflussen und wie dieses wiederum auf Kultur einwirkt. Die hier versammelten Beitrage gehen der Fragestellung anhand vielfaltiger Quellen und aus interdisziplinaren Blickwinkeln nach. Die Frage nach dem Verhaltnis von Wirtschaft und Kultur stellt ein aktuelles Thema in den verschiedenen wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Disziplinen dar. Die Adaption ihrer Theorien und Modelle erscheint auch fur die Altertumswissenschaften vielversprechend, insbesondere die der Neuen Institutionenokonomik (NIO), die von einer Wechselwirkung zwischen Wirtschaft und Kultur ausgeht und daher das kulturelle Umfeld in die Analyse mit einbezieht.
