BAD BEAT is the third book in a cozy mystery series featuring Martha Johnson, a recent widow, who lives in a small town in southern Colorado. Martha is unaware that Trinidad was the sex-change capital of the world until a new friend is found murdered. Martha becomes immersed in the world of transsexuals when a young man comes to town looking for the murder victim who had promised him help in becoming a "tranny" as the locals call those who have gone through SRS (sexual reassignment surgery). The first book in the series PREYING PREACHER is set at a small lake in Minnesota where the mutilated body of a defrocked preacher is found. The second book CHILI DEATH finds Martha, now widowed, at her chili farm in Colorado where the body of a crooked contractor is found. The books are written so the reader can follow the clues and find the killer just as Martha does.
