Ursula K. Le Guin (Berkeley, California, 1929-2018) fue una autora estadounidense clave en la literatura fantástica y la ciencia ficción, conocida por sus profundas exploraciones sociales y filosóficas en mundos imaginarios. Destacó especialmente por dos grandes ciclos: la saga de fantasía Terramar - que comienza con Un mago de Terramar (1968), una historia de crecimiento y magia - y el Ciclo de Hainish o Ekumen, que incluye novelas de ciencia ficción con fuertes temáticas sociales, como La mano izquierda de la oscuridad (1969) y Los desposeídos (1974).

Sus obras abordan temas complejos como el género, la política, el anarquismo y la ecología, con un enfoque crítico y humanista. Fue galardonada con múltiples premios prestigiosos, entre ellos ocho Hugo, seis Nébula y veintidós Locus, además del National Book Award y la Medalla Newbery. Este libro es increíble, lo había leído en digital y cuando vi que salió esta edición de lujo, quise tenerla entre mis manos. La edición es preciosa, sólo le critico dos cosas: que el papel del cubre cubierta queda muy suelto y endeble, aunque la textura que tiene es divina, y después que por el precio y la calidad de la edición, me esperaba que tenga las páginas cocidas pero pareciera que están pegadas
