Enigmatic Benefactors: The life and times of 1850s London, England, and the struggles of families, both the wealthy and the poor. In the 1800s England was a bustling city in a booming time of industry and invention. Its navy was world-class and to be reckoned with. The monarch, Queen Victoria, wanted the empire to pull together more closely, to become one in every sense of the word. Scotland and Ireland didn't fully agree. They were apprehensive about what England might do with them, moving them from their traditions and customs. There was one uprising after another. As well, between Ireland and Scotland, clans were continually at one another over the smallest of things such as the theft of a sheep.In England it seemed there were three groups as well; there were those who were indeed wealthy, the poor, and those who only thought themselves wealthy. Likewise, there were those who were royalty, climbers falling from peerage, and those who would do almost anything for a morsel of bread and a safe place to sleep. Birth, life, and death were constants. Each day brought one of the three.Our encounter meets all three as they struggle with their unique issue, vying for solutions and happiness that seem so elusive. Each person is searching to find peace and happiness with as much as possible, a portion of sheer joy for the day.
