Alice Long Kolb is a writer, quilter, lecturer and home-based, traditional cook. She has also cooked professionally during her years as a recipe tester for the Pioneer Natural Gas Company of Texas. She holds a Master's degree in Home Economics and has taught and lectured for much of her life. Hard Times, Good Times & Great Home Cooking is a treasury of family recipes, but also a humorous memoir following the lifelines of four generations. As Alice explains in her foreword, "... my family placed enormous importance on the sharing of food at our personal table and at the big table of love which we shared with everyone. It surprises me even now how daily food has sustained generations and drastically changed in style and content; each decade feeling more modern than the last. And each generation, at some point, dipping back into the comfort foods of the distant past."
