James Miller (nacido en 1947) es un escritor y académico estadounidense, doctor en Historia de las Ideas por la Universidad de Brandeis. Actualmente, dirige el departamento de Liberal Studies en la New School for Social Research.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentra La pasión de Michel Foucault (1993), una biografía que explora la vida y pensamiento del filósofo francés.
