Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) fue un genio del Renacimiento, reconocido por sus contribuciones a la pintura, la anatomía, la ingeniería y la escritura. Sus estudios y manuscritos reflejan su incesante curiosidad por el mundo natural y su afán por documentar sus descubrimientos. En el ámbito literario, sus escritos abarcan desde tratados científicos hasta reflexiones filosóficas y artísticas. Destacan obras como El Tratado de la Pintura, publicado póstumamente en 1651, donde recoge sus estudios sobre perspectiva, luz y anatomía aplicados al arte.

Su legado escrito se compone principalmente de cuadernos y códices, como el Códice Atlántico y el Códice Leicester (1510), donde desarrolló ideas revolucionarias en múltiples disciplinas. Aunque su obra literaria no fue concebida con fines narrativos, sus escritos han sido estudiados como fuentes fundamentales para el arte, la ciencia y la ingeniería.
