In broad terms, the perception of security reflects the differences between the rulers and the ruled at the moment when the media disseminate the State's leadership in crime prevention and the administration of justice. In this sense, the aim of this paper is to establish a model for the study of this phenomenon. Based on a documentary research with a selection of sources indexed in national repositories, considering the period of publication from 1974 to 2017, as well as the inclusion of keywords, the model was specified, but lines of research concerning the search, processing and modelling of information, extending the research to relative deprivation, social anomie or normative deterrence.
