How did a small Midwest church become a very active, outreach-conscious ethnic church of complex multicultural believers from Taiwan, Hong Kong, SE Asia, China and USA? What was it like to begin and organize numerous new ministries: the embryonic church, evangelism outreach, vacation bible school, youth ministry, missions, and multilingual ministry? What was it like to experience the great joy to watch as the church grew steadily from 20-30 members, eventually becoming a 500-member church of several congregations? In this book, Uncle Reggie particularly weaves in lively stories and principles, in his trademark "coffee with Uncle Reggie" style. In an easy "chatty" way, often with humor mixed in, he suggests how we might integrate key biblical principles into church ministries. His focus is particularly on the practical work of raising a new generation to serve, with the assumption that preaching and teaching topics are much better covered by available scholarly writings. Especially to mobilize "youth for all nations", a strong biblical concept. Church workers and deacons who care about the next generation should find this book helpful and inspiring. Uncle Reggie (Reginald Tsang, MD) was founding elder, and served for 46 years in numerous leadership capacities, at the Cincinnati Chinese Church. That extensive experience has given him a practical perspective about growing an ethnic church, and the special challenges of leadership in a complex multicultural setting. His particular burden has always been the raising of the next generation committed to serving the Lord, the major reason for this book. Professor Tsang has been a practicing Neonatologist, eminent clinician-scientist, and co-founder of Medical Services International with Dr James Taylor, serving SW China tribal minorities since 1994.
