Vikram Seth (Calcuta, 1952) es un escritor indio cuya obra abarca poesía, novela y literatura de viajes. Estudió en Oxford y en la Universidad de Stanford, donde investigó sobre demografía en China. Su prosa detallada y su exploración de diversas culturas le han otorgado reconocimiento internacional.

Entre sus novelas destaca Un buen partido (1993), una ambiciosa narración que consolidó su prestigio. En Una música constante (1999), explora el mundo de la música clásica. En el ámbito de la literatura de viajes, Desde el lago del cielo (1983) recibió el premio Thomas Cook. Su obra combina sensibilidad narrativa y profundidad en el retrato humano.
