Escritora británica, Santa Montefiore creció en una granja en Hampshire y asistió a la escuela de Sherborne para mujeres. Desde pequeña soñó con ser escritora y esto le llevó a licenciarse en Lengua Española e Italiana por la Universidad de Exeter. Se convirtió al judaísmo en 1998 y se casó con un historiador, de quien tomó su apellido, Montefiore.

Pasó la década de los 90 en Buenos Aires, donde despertó su curiosidad por el país sudamericano, que ha nutrido notablemente su trabajo. Publicó su primera novela en 2001 y posteriormente ha publicado diversos títulos, siendo sus mayores éxitos A la sombra del ombú, La caja de la mariposa, La golondrina y el colibrí y El último viaje de Valentina.

De la producción de Montefiore destaca la serie Las crónicas de Deverill, formada por Canciones de amor y guerra, Hijas del castillo Deverill, El último secreto de los Deverill y Tiempo de secretos en Deverill.

El estilo de escritura de la autora es romántico clásico, con magníficas descripciones y mostrando una gran imaginación.
