John le Carré, seudónimo de David John Moore Cornwell (1931–2020), fue un novelista británico reconocido por redefinir la literatura de espionaje. Antes de dedicarse plenamente a la escritura, trabajó para los servicios de inteligencia británicos MI5 y MI6 durante la Guerra Fría, experiencia que influyó profundamente en sus obras. Su narrativa se caracteriza por una visión realista y moralmente compleja del espionaje, alejándose de los estereotipos del género.
