Rhoda Gray is an angel of mercy who spends her time helping the needy in the slums of New York City. She fights the evilest criminal group in the New York underground while being accused of a crime and running from the police in order to establish her innocence. This narrative has shootouts, car chases, adventure, and enough suspense and deceit to please even the most ardent mystery enthusiast. It is populated with characters like Pierre Dangler, the Pug, Pinkie Bonn, Skeeny, the Sparrow, and, most all, "the Adventurer."There was a little stack of very large-denomination banknotes within, the top. She went inside and pulled out the cash, but while Rhoda Gray was holding to the edge of the escritoire for support, she let out a little gasp and the flashlight fell from her fingers and shattered on the floor. The only book by Packard featuring a female protagonist is The White Moll.
