Richard K. Morgan es un escritor británico nacido en Londres en 1965, conocido principalmente por su trabajo dentro del género de la ciencia ficción ciberpunk. Se graduó en Lenguas Modernas por Queens’ College, Cambridge, y trabajó como profesor de inglés antes de dedicarse por completo a la escritura. Su debut literario llegó en 2002 con Carbono Alterado (Altered Carbon), una novela que fusiona elementos del noir con un futuro distópico y tecnológico. Este libro, que introdujo al personaje Takeshi Kovacs, fue un éxito inmediato y ganó el Premio Philip K. Dick. La obra fue adaptada por Netflix en una serie del mismo nombre en 2018.

Morgan continuó la saga con Ángeles Rotos (2003) y Furias Desatadas (2005).
