Wislawa Szymborska (Kórnik, Polonia, 1923 – Cracovia, 2012) fue una poeta polaca de gran renombre internacional, ganadora del Premio Nobel de Literatura en 1996. Su poesía destaca por su precisión, ironía y profundidad filosófica, explorando temas como la cotidianeidad, la existencia y el asombro ante lo aparentemente sencillo.

A lo largo de su carrera publicó más de quince libros de poesía, entre los más importantes se encuentran: "Por eso vivimos" (1952), "Preguntas hechas a una misma" (1954), "La sal" (1962), "Cien alegrías" (1967), "Gran número" (1976), "Gente en el puente" (1986), "Fin y principio" (1993) y "Aquí" (2009). Además de su poesía, escribió ensayos donde también mostró su aguda reflexión.

Su obra se caracteriza por la combinación de un lenguaje sencillo y accesible con un fondo profundo y reflexivo. Este enfoque le hizo merecedora, además del Nobel, de premios como el Goethe (1991) y el Herder (1995), consolidándola como una voz esencial de la poesía contemporánea polaca y mundial.
